Burney Center renovation: 23,196 square feet

University Union addition: 70,536 square feet

Union renovation: 72,391 square feet

Plans for the anticipated renovation and construction project include an overall expansion of UNCW facilities from the existing 96,000 square feet to more than 166,000 square feet that will encompass the Burney Student Support Center.

The completed facility will include a new ballroom that will be approximately 35 percent larger than the existing ballroom which is currently in Warwick Center. It will seat approximately 600 for a banquet and approximately 900 in an auditorium-style arrangement.

The new University Union will be home to a movie theatre that will seat approximately 350 people.

The University Union will house a new café which will be located near the theatre to provide pre- and post-movie options for snacks and coffee. A game room and a television lounge will be located nearby.

The new and improved University Union will include additional food service and dining spaces in three locations to seat approximately 570 (up from 365).
