FIRE STATION NUMBER FIVE
BURLINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA

The station's 36' x 68' apparatus room accommodates a two-vehicle engine company and support vehicles. Four overhead doors operate by remote control and are interconnected with the building's exhaust system.

A separate "industrial waste" sewer system allows washdown of equipment and containment of potentially toxic materials.

The firefighter staff area includes:

  -  Dormitory for 9 firefighters

  -  Officers quarters for 4 officers

  -  Kitchen and lounge area

  -  Training room

  -  Communications office

  -  Toilets, lockers and storage areas

The site was designed to accommodate vehicle maneuvering, training and maintenance requirements associated with a fire station.
