WRIGHT MEMORIAL PYLON RENOVATION

WRIGHT BROTHERS MEMORIAL NATIONAL PARK

KITTY HAWK, NORTH CAROLINA

MMPA was selected to participate in a number of renovations and additions to the facilities at the Wright Brothers Memorial National Park in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

The monument commemorating the first flight in 1903 was erected in 1932. MMPA designed repairs and renovations to the existing structure.

Restoration included repair and replacement of failing mortar joints and flashings and a thorough cleaning of the exterior and interior stone. The entrance doors and the beacon light on top of the monu-ment were both also repaired.
